Jan 19th: Received 2 "Author Review Copies" -- one hardcover and one softcover. They look great. I need to read them through to make sure everything is there and then approve them before the books go on sale. I see one minor problem with the hard cover that they will have to fix. I'm throwing my energy/time right now into reading them and I hope to be done within 1 week.
Jan. 1st: Awaiting (anxiously) "Author Review Copy" from publisher. Making preliminary plans for book signings in late February/early March.
Dec. 28: My husband, Greg, has helped out with the web site and added the first "comment" to my new Comments page, where readers can comment on the book or ask questions, and I will respond. Of course, since nobody has read the full book yet except my husband and the cover designer, there won't be too many comments in there too soon!
Dec. 23: Faxed back "Galley Approval" form to publisher. Apparently, I will receive my "Author Review Copy" in 2-3 WEEKS. Supposedly, it looks like a real book. Then, I'll need to sign another form: the "Author Copy Approval" form, which will FINALLY finalize the production process. It seems it might be FEBRUARY before my book comes out now! Too much waiting!
Dec. 14: As soon as I have any information on when the Soot and Sweat on Flesh will be out, I will put the news on here.
Dec. 12: Finalized book! Yoo hoo! My part is done. Now the publisher has to do its work.
Dec. 8: Confirmed that book will not be published until January at the earliest. Must have been all that time I spent making sure it was perfect! Oh well, there's so much to do this season anyhow without book signings thrown into it. I plan to have one on the North Shore (Lowell/southern New Hampshire area) and one on the South Shore (Canton, MA area). More details to come in January.
Nov. 26: Second galley corrections sent back to publisher. The end is in sight!
Nov. 20: Second galley arrives from publisher.
Nov. 3: Corrections received by publisher. It will take 3 weeks for the publisher to make them, then I'll receive a new galley to review. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll all be made flawlessly.
Nov. 1: Corrections to the manuscript (including one found by my father -- thanks, Dad!) are sent back to publisher. Included are instructions for insertion of my brother's illustrations. The cover galley is final.
Oct. 14: I have finished reading through the galley and found author and publisher errors that need to be fixed.
Oct. 10: My brother is doing at least one illustration for my book! I am very excited to have him do it because he is a great illustrator!
Oct. 4: I have received galleys, so progress is underway.
